Festive Houses and Wreaths for Christmas Decor

There’s something about the humble house when it comes to Christmas, I don’t know why but I’m drawn to them. When I saw these sweet creations by Silke Trapani I just knew I had to make my own versions of them. There is a tutorial you can download from Silke’s website, it’s in German but I was able to follow it easily.

Don’t you just love the colour combinations of Gray Granite, Seaside Spray with Mossy Meadow and Copper Foil! The Buffalo Check stamp does a great job for the background front and back of the house.

We will make these houses in our classes on 10th and 12th of October along with 2 cards. Visit the class calendar page to register, there are a few spaces left.

Festive House Decoration

I chose to stick closely to Silke’s creations for my first one by using the sprig punch and the twigs die from All Around Wreath Dies, the sentiment is from the Greatest Part of Christmas stamp set stamped in Gray Granite. The sweet little star is one of the Star Designer Elements, part of the Christmas Gleaming Suite.

I used White Bakers Twine or the Mossy Meadow Linen Thread from the Magnolia Lane Ribbon combo pack to wrap twice around each house and tie in a bow.

Wreaths for Decoration

When I had the wreath dies out I thought I’d use a wreath to decorate my houses, wreaths are my second favourite Christmas design. I die cut the wreath from Mossy Meadow card stock and then cut it in half, so good as it decorates 2 houses! The Copper Foil leaves are from the same die set. This time I stamped the sentiment using the Delicata Ink in Copper.

So here are my Festive Houses designs so far. Now I want to experiment using different colours and even sizes. The tutorial shows how to make 2 pocket die cuts into the box which can then be filled with a small gift or chocolates. They can also be left empty to use as decor in your festive decorations. You could even add a loop of twine or thread and use them on the Christmas tree.
