I live in Auckland, New Zealand with my partner of 17 years, Brendan. Last year we bought a caravan so we’re plotting our next adventure – South Island in March!
I’m very lucky to be able to do what I LOVE so it doesn’t feel like work. It wasn’t always this way, Brendan and I have had career ups and downs that have seen both of us individually supporting our household at different times and counting the pennies. Once we owned an IT business and briefly worked in it together. He’s now full time in IT and I have a part time gig with a furniture and home-ware importer helping the owner with the buying for a few hours a week as well as running this business.
Sadly our attempts to become parents didn’t work out, we are very lucky to have nephews and nieces in our lives. My biggest challenge this past year has been treatment for breast cancer which isn’t over yet. It’s been hard at times but I’m in the easier part now and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I’m a positive thinker and optimist, I’m also a bit shy in social situations and a homebody. One of my favourite indulgences is to wake up in the weekend and stay in bed reading. I love coffee, dark chocolate and Pinot Noir but I’ve curbed my sugar intake by eating Keto for the past 1 1/2 years. My treats now consist of peanut butter eaten off the spoon, yum, still the dark chocolate and wine, gal has to LIVE!
a creative history
Some of my earliest memories are of colouring books and felt pens, I loved to colour and hated to go outside the lines. I also loved stationery, especially those packs of paper and envelopes with pretty flowers. I’ve tried my hand at a few handcrafts over the years, mostly influenced by what my Mum was making. These include sewing, knitting, cross stitch and fabric paints. All of these required following a pattern so I bring that skill to my card making. I tend to copy designs from other crafters at least as my starting point and the great news is that my community of card makers is okay with this. It’s a very encouraging, inclusive, sharing community and I’m privileged to be part of it.
My other interests include movies particularly Italian and French films, baking and cooking, travel, reading and yoga. A new skill I’m learning is photography, important for my business but also as a hobby Brendan and I can share.
Confetti Card Studio
For a while I wanted to be a teacher and people say I’m good at teaching because I’m very patient. I love making a difference to people’s lives just by sharing what I love.
My goal is to help you to discover your creativity and enjoy creating with stamps, ink and paper. I teach classes where all the guess work is done and success is a given. You can copy the samples provided and make cards you’re proud to give to family and friends. Or you can go ‘outside the lines’ and make the projects your way.
